Borderline Personality Disorder and Sexual Orientation

Hmm… What an interesting concept. Last semester, for psychology class, I was asked to write a term paper. I hate school so I at least wanted to pick an interesting topic. I happened to stumble upon an scholarly study in which borderline personality disorder was associated with higher rates of homosexuality, “up to ten times higher in men and six times higher in women.”
I have been receiving messages mentioning this and noticing a buzz on Facebook groups and message board websites regarding sexual identity and BPD. I am homosexual, some would say bisexual. For awhile, I was confused about who I was- regarding my relationships, sexuality, career, ect. I still feel very confused about some of these things.
Some would say that there is a connection between this personality disorder and sexual orientation. I have heard that it can be related to hypersexuality or even identity confusion . I’m not exactly sure what to think. What do you think?
