We all get stressed at some point of time in our working environment but the only that varies is the stress level. The way we deal with this stress separates each one of us and also to what extent we are affected is a crucial factor. A stressful work environment will not only affect our ability to work and consequently our productivity but more importantly our health too. Stress is a natural force and unfortunately you cannot eliminate it altogether. Instead you have to learn how to control or mange it before it clutches and swallows you up.
Stress when experienced in a certain level is not a vicious thing. Some people welcome stress as it motivates them to get things stirring. However stress may grow manifold if you find it difficult to cope with pressure. Tight deadlines, customer complaints, poor productivity and excessive work load all lead to mounting levels of stress. One of the ways to mange the negative influence of stress is to nip it in the bud by recognizing its symptoms and as the popular saying goes, ‘precaution is better than cure’, find a way to distress yourself. Stress itself is not an illness; it simply provokes illnesses like headache, nausea, insomnia and excessive sweating. Psychological stress related problems include reduced self esteem, mood swings, anger and depression. Hence it is imperative to find techniques to deal with stress and develop a sense of confidence that you can overcome this stress in the future too. A physical activity or a sport can be an effective stress buster. Talking or sharing your problem with others will help to release the weight on your mind and find a solution too. Sometimes stress can make us want to cry. Don’t stop your emotions as sometimes crying helps to throw away the tension from the body. A hearty laugh, at times can be an excellent stress buster. By sharing a joke with your colleague or reading something funny can sometimes do wonders. As you’ve heard or read before ‘laughter is the best medicine.’
