if you aide in having someone committed for mental illness are you responsible for their bill?

Posted by bubble55

My brother has not worked for 30 years, lives with my mother who provides for all of his needs.  He was sending very strange e mails to a girl talking about that he was dying of cancer-not true and then he pretending to be us telling her he committed suicide ect.  We tried to talk with him and take him to the hospital and he refused. We asked to have him committed for 48 hours and the Dr. agreed.

Now he is sueing us for medical bills.  Can he do this?
