Although I cannot reiterate his rationality completely, he believes I have a high tolerance when it comes to these medications and my body metabolizes it too quickly to have an effect. Therefore, he recommended I increase the dosage of celexa, the current drug I'm taking. So for the next few weeks, I'm going to increase the dosage from 20mg to 30mg a day, until I can gradually make my way up to 60mg a day. He talked about the possibility of taking two different kinds of medication, but definitely thought this was the best next step. Since celexa helps depression and anxiety, a secondary medication might not be necessary. Although, the need for taking something when I'm feeling especially anxious about a situation, such as a job interview, is an issue we are going to discuss down the road. We also discussed my struggles with binge eating, and celexa is also somewhat of an aid to help curb that behavior. So I'm going to give celexa another try at a higher dosage. And I'm going back for another follow up appoint on September 23rd, which is the same day I'll be starting my CBT group for social anxiety. I will probably have much more to write about in the upcoming months! |
