A Few Interesting Items from Across the Internet...

Here is a list of links to various items of interest (to me, anyway) across the Internet:
1) Mind Hacks has a post about a recent replication of the famous Milgram study regarding conformity to authority. This study was also touched on here.
2) For any fans of The Sopranos, there is a post and relevant links over at The Top Two Inches regarding a discussion about Tony Soprano, and whether he is a psychopath. I've only seen 2-3 episodes, so I couldn't really say, but it was encouraging to read that the dialog in the show was actually fairly accurate. One of my pet peeves is how psychological terms and concepts are constantly butchered by movies and television, giving the general public the wrong idea about issues that are quite important. As an aside, I will eventually catch up on at least some of The Sopranos, so please don't write me off as oblivious just yet!
3)The results of this study, discussed over at Psych Central, make intuitive sense, but it is nonetheless encouraging that researchers are looking at issues like this. The idea that low self-esteem, especially in kids, impacts behavior related to self-perception and self-care seems like a no-brainer, but it's always helpful to have the data when attempting to effect change. In this case, it is once again clear that positively impacting one's views about themselves, others, and the world can lead to positive behavioral changes as well.
4) I know, I know, I harp on it regularly, but it is important. Get your sleep!!! Even you, teens! You'll thank me later (and don't forget to tip...).
