500 days until I turn thirty. I'm doing my best to turn this into a good thing. I was never afraid of thirty before, but for some reason the very moment I turned 28, the numbers began holding meaning for me. Perhaps because it's a traditional thing, to fear thirty. Perhaps it's because my mother never saw it herself.
I think a lot of my fear with thirty stems from the fact that I don't believe I've done much with my twenties (and marriage doesn't count cause I knocked that off the big bucket list when I was nineteen!) That might be why this list has grown important to me. I'm determined to complete it. And in order to complete it I need some accountability, which is why I'm going to start doing monthly updates.
My original list was made in a day and included things that were a little out of reach and also a little strange. Things like learn a new language and watch every single episode of Doctor Who ever (talk about out of reach!). So I've trimmed and replaced and thought long and hard about this list. And who knows if I'll update it again from time to time. I'm grateful to have knocked a few things off already! As you can see on my side-bar, I've also installed a lovely little countdown to the big 3-0.
In 2012 I was able to check off a few and some were absolutely amazing.
I was able to see a live Broadway performance (granted it was their traveling performance, but that totally counts). My husband took me to see The Lion King here in Albuquerque at the Popejoy Hall. (I'll eventually blog about the experience, I'm seriously behind on it.)
I was able to attend my first blog conference when I went to Sparklecon , the Southwest Beauty Bloggers Conference here in New Mexico.
And with the help of a Wii U, I've begun learning to play video games without getting dizzy.
2013 has a lot to look forward to.
There's a big list of things to accomplish, but I'm determined. On my list I have the goal to read all the scriptures, or what my Church refers to as The Standard Works (The Holy Bible, The Book of Mormon, The Doctrine and Covenants and The Pearl of Great Price.) And in one week I've already completed The PoGP and am now toe deep in Genesis.
I've added new things to the list that are important to me. Things like conquering my fears (and not my OCD created fears, but real long term childhood fear). My fear of heights, fear of birds and even fear of frogs. I've also added the goal to volunteer at a local animal rescue. It's something that means a lot to both myself and my husband.
2013 will be successful. As long as I work at it.
