Hi Melony,

A granuloma is basically a small area of inflammation or immune system reaction to either injury (like surgery) or infection.  There can be a number of reasons for bleeding and discharge.  You need to see your physician to determine the cause of your symptoms. Important questions to be addressed are:  does the discharge have an odor or color?  Is it thick?  How much is a lot (usually described as how much drainage on a sanitary napkin or pad - quarter size?  Dollar size spot? soaked after x hrs?) Are the bleeding and cramping related to any specific activity such as sexual activity or bowel movements?  Do you have any other symptoms?  Fever or heat sensation in vagina? Find out if your cervix was removed in the hysterectomy - sometimes there can be unhealed areas if the cervix is intact.

Talk to your physician about all of these.  The more info you can offer to him/her, the better.  It may be a simple matter of cauterizing some small bleeding area or it may be a low grade infection or?  Get checked out and let us know how it goes.

All my best,

Lynette Sheppard RN
