On average, women hit menopause around the age of 51. It can be a trying time of hot flashes, mood swings, sleepless nights and other serious discomforts – but you don’t have to live life this way. Learn how to stop the madness.

Here’s what’s happening. . . . .

Your ovaries halt secretion of progesterone and estrogen and ovulation ceases. Twelve consecutive months without menstruating is consider postmenopausal.

Conquer These Symptoms. Sadly 72 percent of women are simply enduring the symptoms of menopause rather than seeking treatment. Why? Cynthia Stuenkel, M.D., clinical professor of medicine in the division of endocrinology and metabolism at the University of California-San Diego told Family Circle Magazine, ”Fears about hormonal therapy and confusion about the safety and effectiveness of other options keep women from seeking help.”  Of course, these fears after based in research that is two-decades old and there are alternatives if hormone therapy is not for you.
