My doctor gave me a bunch of Elestrin (estradiol gel 0.06%) samples following my physical today. I have a prescription, so it's something I can use, which is great, but they all expire next month. I know the instructions say not to use after the expiration date, but this is an alcohol based gel which has been kept in a temperature controlled environment. It is a gel that I apply to my arm, and the medication is absorbed through the skin. Do I really need to throw the samples out after next month, or can I refrigerate the samples and continue using them for a while longer? If so, how long? Thanks!
