Hot Flashes, Heart Palpitations, and Sting: It’s Not What You Think

On one of my numerous Google adventures, I came across the lyrics to the Sting song Be Still My Beating Heart . What in the world does this have to do with menopause? Let me tell you. It’s his words. If I didn’t know any better you’d think the song was written about a woman in menopause.
The first couple of lines grabbed me. “Be still my beating heart. It would be better to be cool.” After experiencing a recent hot flashalong with what I think were heart palpitationsI couldn’t agree more. So I read on.
“My logic has drowned in a sea of emotion.” Can anyone relate? I could, because when the mood swings hit, logic flies out the window. A normally-rational human being can be turned into a sobbing, illogical, emotional mess.
Okay, so this might not be his biggest hit, but the lyrics seemed so relevant to me today. I wonder if I can find some meaning in the latest Lady Gaga song. Probably not.
