Can you explain why uterine contractions during orgasm become more painful after menopause?

This grows from a New York Times article about sexual response and menopause that Jane Brody wrote in March, 2009 in the NYT's Science Section. I have always been eager and easy in achieving orgasm, but now 56, and recently (I think) passed through menopause with minimal side-effects, and no need for medication, I note that my orgasms are less intense and in addition, the uterine contractions have a slight "cramping" ache to them in ways not experienced before. Not entirely painful or intolerable, there is, however, a difference in how my uterus is working during climax. A Any medical explanation you can offer would be appreciated!
