Many of you know Eileen Williams at Feisty Side of Fifty .  Eileen is one of the first people I *met* when I began blogging  a few years ago.  She has been a loyal and faithful friend to me in the blogosphere and I can’t say enough good things about her.

She’s a great writer, a champion for women over fifty and just an all around great person.  It is people like Eileen that make blogging and the Internet a great experience.

You may or may not know that Eileen also does a radio program at Feisty Side of Fifty where she interviews people in all walks of life, particularly those who are living life with a strong purpose after the age of fifty.

I was fortunate enough to interview with Eileen myself this past week and I wanted to share the interview with you here. The link will take you to Blog Talk Radio where you will be able to hear Eileen and I discuss my blogs, mid-life challenges and of course, perimenopause.  Please stop over and give a listen and let me know what you think!  Don’t forget to pass it on to Facebook and Twitter as well!

Eileen has also written a new book, Land the Job You Love!: 10 Surefire Strategies for Jobseekers Over 50 (Volume 1) to help women and men over 50, who have suddenly found themselves in the job market again.  As usual, Eileen brings her positive, “you can do this” attitude to the project and has put together a wonderful resource and aid with this book to help you prepare for the current job market.

In the introduction, Eileen gets right to the heart of the matter and addresses the fears and nagging self doubts that often plague the over fifty job seeker such as

  • I’m too old
  • I haven’t updated my resume
  • How do I market myself
  • I don’t have a college education
  • How to interview with someone younger than yourself

There is no denial of the facts here, because Eileen acknowledges that ageism is indeed alive and well.  However, with a straight forward approach she offers real solutions and practical helps to aid in and facilitate the transition.

Written in a workbook style,  Land the Job You Love!: 10 Surefire Strategies for Jobseekers Over 50 (Volume 1) lays out strategies to help the job seeker focus on strengths, attitudes and a pro-active approach to gaining access into the job market.

For someone like me who often finds herself overwhelmed with how to approach problem solving, the book is like an anchor.  Eileen offers worksheets, resume and sample cover letter formats to help with focus and organization and even tips on how to interview for potential positions and negotiate a salary.

Change can sometimes be terrifying and stressful, particularly if you’re over 50 and looking for a job again!  But, with change also comes the opportunity for growth.  In Land the Job You Love!: 10 Surefire Strategies for Jobseekers Over 50 (Volume 1) , Eileen will show you “how to turn your age into an advantage,” so that you will be able to turn the change into opportunities for growth and in the process find the job that you love.

Please be sure to stop over and see Eileen where you can pick up a copy of her book or you can purchase a copy here at Amazon as well.
