Many of you know Eileen Williams at Feisty Side of Fifty . Eileen is one of the first people I *met* when I began blogging a few years ago. She has been a loyal and faithful friend to me in the blogosphere and I can’t say enough good things about her.
She’s a great writer, a champion for women over fifty and just an all around great person. It is people like Eileen that make blogging and the Internet a great experience.
You may or may not know that Eileen also does a radio program at Feisty Side of Fifty where she interviews people in all walks of life, particularly those who are living life with a strong purpose after the age of fifty.
In the introduction, Eileen gets right to the heart of the matter and addresses the fears and nagging self doubts that often plague the over fifty job seeker such as
I’m too old
I haven’t updated my resume
How do I market myself
I don’t have a college education
How to interview with someone younger than yourself
There is no denial of the facts here, because Eileen acknowledges that ageism is indeed alive and well. However, with a straight forward approach she offers real solutions and practical helps to aid in and facilitate the transition.
For someone like me who often finds herself overwhelmed with how to approach problem solving, the book is like an anchor. Eileen offers worksheets, resume and sample cover letter formats to help with focus and organization and even tips on how to interview for potential positions and negotiate a salary.
Change can sometimes be terrifying and stressful, particularly if you’re over 50 and looking for a job again! But, with change also comes the opportunity for growth. In Land the Job You Love!: 10 Surefire Strategies for Jobseekers Over 50 (Volume 1) , Eileen will show you “how to turn your age into an advantage,” so that you will be able to turn the change into opportunities for growth and in the process find the job that you love.
