Ellen was a menopause client we worked with. She wanted help from us because she was fat and gaining more weight every year. She had tried a variety of diets. Every time a new one came out, there was Ellen ready to sign up for whatever it was! Actually she didn’t care what it was, only that it was the newest and greatest plan yet. She had tried them all, but didn’t have much success. She didn’t know it, but her fat hormones were making her fat.
Sometimes she would skip meals if she had something more important to do. She also watched the amount of calories she took in, decreasing her calories as much as she could and still have enough to do everything she needed to do.
She thought that would help her cause. By significantly cutting calories and actually skipping meals, you would think that would help Ellen to , right? For some reason it didn’t and she was getting very discouraged because after all, she had tried everything and she still gained about ten pounds every single year. It never failed since she had turned 49 years old.
Ellen reached a point and decided to give up. She wondered about her willpower and thought it must be “normal” to get fat as one gets older. The people around her were gaining weight too! Her self confidence was gone!
What was really going on? Why were her fat hormones making her fat?
Ellen was treating the symptom but not the cause. The symptom was the weight. Her quest was to find out what was causing the . The key is metabolism, which is determined by the hormones that control fat accumulation and fat burning. Fat accumulating hormones are the fat hormones.
