Are there any problems with quitting Estradoil cold turkey or is it something that should be weaned off of?

Dear prairierose,

My understanding is that it is better to decrease your dosage and wean off Estradiol (or any estrogen) to give your body a chance to equilibrate and adjust. I have known women who went cold turkey (usually from a low dosage) - some had symptoms return with  great intensity, others did fine. Whenever possible, I believe in being gentle with your body and yourself.

Speaking of which, I just decreased my Estradiol patch in preparation for going off it altogether. I was on low dose of 0.025, which is the lowest they make in a patch, so have cut my patch in half and taped the end with waterproof tape per my MD's instructions.

My MD and I are decreasing our HRT together - she's "regular" and I'm "bioidentical". We are recording our experiences on our blogsite - day by day. Check it out to see how we do........ Menopause Goddess Blog.

Good luck - let us know how it goes.
