‘Fat-Blocking’ Soda: Is it too good to be true?

In the endless battle to shake their growing reputation as a key trigger point in America’s obesity epidemic, the major soda manufacturer, Pepsi, has a new invention for the soda market:  , the “fat-blocking” cola.

The miraculous claims of this soda stem from the idea that fiber-rich foods contribute to weight loss. According to a , dextrin has been found to have a positive impact on health, including increasing micronutrient absorption, stabilizing blood glucose levels and lowering serum lipid levels. While experts don’t condone the health claims or fat-blocking benefits to be as substantial as the advertisements claim, Pepsi isn’t worried, since the mere concept has already sold itself.
