Xanthinol Nicotinate..What The Hell Is That?

xanthinol nicotinate

I’ve talked about many other supplement ingredients before, mainly the main ones though like Arginine, Taurine, and Creatine. One I’m going to talk about really quick is one that you probably wouldn’t have a clue about unless you looked it up like I did. I’ve seen this before but just didn’t Google it until yesterday. So what is Xanthinol Nicotinate?

Xanthinol Nicotinate is a very potent form of Niacin, or vitamin B3. There are many benefits of Xanthinol Nicotinate but the reason it’s in the supplement I use is for the vasodilator benefits. Dedicated Athlete described Xanthinol Nicotinate as:

Xanthinol Nicotinate has been shown to increase brain glucose metabolism, improve brain ATP levels and improve brain blood flow (it acts as a vasodilator). As such, Xanthinol Nicotinate has been used to treat short-term memory disorders, mental flagging (i.e. lack of brain energy that compromises vigilance, concentration and attention) and insufficient blood flow to the arteries and the extremities.

One thing I don’t like about Niacin is the dreaded Niacin Flush that people often complain about. The Niacin Flush as people call it, can make your face feel like it’s burning and even a little itchy. It doesn’t usually last for more than a half hour or so, but if you’re working out it doesn’t bother you very badly for very long. What I don’t like about the supplement that I take that has Xanthinol Nicotinate is that it doesn’t say exactly how much is in a serving. They don’t have to because they are not regulated by the FDA, something I’ll touch base on later one.

  • Xanthinol Nicotinate is also said to have “Anti-aging” benefits in the sense that it keeps the brain of elderly people sharp through improving blood-flow to the brain and improve short term memory.
  • Xanthinol Nicotinate can be found in many “Fat-Burners” because it’s said to be good for the increased metabolism of glucose.

So what else is Niacin good for? Find out later this week as I go through some basic essential vitamins.
