Which Erectile Dysfunction Drug Has the Best Reputation?

Erectile dysfunction is a health condition that has affected men for as long as anyone can remember. Yet only in the last 15 years or so has ED been addressed not only by doctors and drug manufacturers, but also by the people who have suffered from it. As a result, men now have several choices when it comes to dealing with ED. Three of the most popular approaches come in the form of prescription medications — namely Viagra, Cialis, and Levitra.
But which of these three drugs has the best reputation?
Viagra (also known as sildenafil) was introduced in 1998 by Pfizer as the first medication designed specifically for erectile dysfunction. In 2003, Cialis (also known as tadalafil) was brought to market by Eli Lilly and Company as a competitor to Viagra. A few years later, Levitra (also known as vardenafil) was made available to consumers by a consortium made up of GlaxoSmithKline, Bayer Pharmaceuticals, and Schering-Plough.
Though the three medications are different, consumers may not be aware of the fact that they all work basically the same way: by increasing the flow of blood to the penis. The only differences pertain to how large the recommended dosage amounts are, how quickly the drug takes effect and how long the effects last.
Viagra, Cialis, and Levitra are all taken orally, and they carry the same basic side effects. That's why doctors, scientists, and researchers tend to talk about the medications as a group, rather than singling one drug out as better or worse than another.
Which ED Drug Is the Most Popular?
To see which one has the best online reputation , the first step is to see how many raw results are returned when the name of each drug is typed into a search engine. When almost every relevant search term is entered into both Google and Bing, Viagra comes out on top in number of results found, followed by Cialis and then Levitra. However, it's easy to posit that the main reason for this advantage has as much (if not more) to do with the length of time each drug has been on the market rather than its popularity.
The next step would be to examine the online reviews associated with each of the three ED medications. Many sites allow users to comment on and/or rate the efficacy of these drugs. Using three sites which accept online reviews of erectile dysfunction drugs, here's a comparison of the ratings given by reviewers — along with the overall averages and weighted averages of the three sites.
Though the sample size is relatively small, this research shows that Cialis has the best overall online reputation, followed by Levitra and then Viagra. It should be noted that the reputations of each of these medications could potentially change dramatically if new research emerges about the effectiveness (or lack thereof) of any one of these drugs. The same types of changes could be seen should a news event about a drastic side effect of one of the ED drugs be reported across numerous media outlets.
But if you're looking for a "winner" in the popularity contest among the three erectile dysfunctions, Cialis would take home that trophy by a nose.
