what could it be, a needle pain in the male pubic groin area, pain first started in back then moved

Went to he doctors, said it was the shingles, husband does not think that what it is, has no rash.  Right scrotum is reddish a little swallen.  more pain when standing. Day 4 in pain, although not as bad.  Feeling real bad, now haves heart burn & lump in throat.
