what are the causesof swollen pimply legs

i woke up one morning to find that my legs had burning sensation,swollen and red with raised pimples and my scrotum was large, I Took off that day from work and the very next day i was all right that was 16yrs ago but I was always puzzled about it do you have any idea what may be the cause?
