For 2 sessions now, I've been trying the 5x5 (5 sets by 5 repetitions) routine and it seems not to be as effective as what I was expecting. One of the Personal Trainers noticed a change in my routine and suggested a new one. Well not actually a "New One" but really something that would fit my beginner stage routine. So what was suggested was to do a 12-10-8 workout routine with increasing weights by 10lbs. This last session of mine I was doing my Chest and Triceps and boy was it a killer! By the third rep, I already asked for a trainer to assist me on both Bench and Inclined Bench Press.
Remembering Slow Effective Workouts
As I was going through the workouts, "slow effective workouts" suddenly crossed my thoughts. But due to the new routine, this isn't possible for now. You see, if I did slow workouts on for example the Bench Press, not to mention the increasing 10 pound weights, I wouldn't be able to finish the routine. Why? I would've burned out all my energy. Remember in weight lifting, it's all about throwing out power and conserving energy at the same time.
Don't Rush things
In this journey, I have to admit that I'm becoming impatient. Don't worry I'll be posting my new picture by the end of the month. It feels like I'm seeing the end of the tunnel only the light at the end seems to be so slow. Meaning it's too far! I mean who wouldn't want to have those muscle every man dreams to just get into you overnight right? But I guess, I just really have to do this step by step.
7th Week
This is my 7th week now and by just looking at the mirror, I can already notice some differences from that of my last posted picture. I know what you're going to ask. How's Santa's tummy? Honestly speaking, it has shrunk. No kidding! I've asked around like my friends, my wife and even those friends you haven't seen in a long time like 3-5 months have noticed it. But still the fact is, the Big Buddah is still present. They say it takes time. They say it's a process. hmmm... yeah right. Again, patience is a virtue. Like what Jedi Masters say "Patience my dear Apprentice."
Workout Today I'll be going to the gym today. I'll be doing Shoulders and Legs and maybe a little cardio just for warm up. And yes, I'll be sticking to the 12 x 10 x 8 Workout routine. You know sometimes, you just have to think and feel if the particular workout is going to work for you or not.
Again if you guys have any suggestions, please... I'm all ears.
