Smirnoff Opposes Concept of “Bros Icing Bros” and Shuts down Web Site; Never Wants to Sell Another Drink Again

In a pretty clear case of biting the only hand that has been feeding the Smirnoff Ice brand, Diageo, Smirnoff’s parent company, has ordered the site www.brosicingbros.com . They have been outspoken on the fact that the concept of “icing” disparages their brand. I guess they don’t find the the fact that their product is regarded as so unappetizing that it is only suitable to drink if dared.
If you’re scratching your head, wondering what the hell I am discussing right here, allow me to crack an egg of knowledge on you in regards to icing. Icing is a game. A very, very frat-tastic game in which you approach a “bro” with a Smirnoff Ice in hand. You present it to him. He has then been “iced”. He must take a knee wherever he is and pound that bad boy. If he or she doesn’t, then they are “excommunicated” and may never ice anyone again. It’s become a small internet phenomenon that is growing every day.
It’s also probably the only reason that Smirnoff Ice has made a sale of their alca-Sprite in the past two months. Naturally, they want to shut it down so they can go back to sales numbers they are more comfortable with (0 units per month).
My favorite part of this whole affair is the fact that Diageo is treating Smirnoff Ice like some elixir from the Gods that must be treated with reverence and respect. Instead of a way for 14-year old girls to get drunk or a way to create spit that is capable of touching the ground, then being sucked back up into your mouth. Gross.
I have iced two people in the past week. My weapon of choice is “The Widowmaker”, a 22-oz Green Apple Smirnoff Ice that is served to my friends at room temperature.
By the way, Diageo also at one time ownedBurger King, so they can’t be trusted to know quality if it did the worm on their face.
Ice people. It’s fun.
