my son has one severely swollen tonsil on his left side. doctor says this is quite common but my son is constantly trying to cle

my doctor is very good, but this tonsil is obviously very swollen practically half way across his throat. It became swollen when he got a bad cold some months ago but has never gone down.

Get a 2nd opinion severely swollen tonsil is not normal.

The best choice for you is to see a ENT.  This specialist will check his throat and tonsils.  

Another idea is to be seen at the emergency room.
