Is my penis the right size?

Many men worry that their penis is smaller than that of other men. However, there is no normal or right sized penis, and everyone's penis is different.

According to research, the average penis size is about 8cm (3.5 inches) when limp, and about 13-15cm (5-6 inches) when erect (hard). Penises vary greatly in size when limp, but there is much less variation when erect. As penises that are smaller when limp expand more when erect, limp size does not predict size when erect. Studies also show that very few men actually have longer than average penises when erect.

If you look at your penis from above, it will look smaller than it actually is. Your penis may also look smaller if you are overweight, as some of its base will be hidden by the fat on your stomach. Therefore, losing weight will make your penis appear larger.

Some people believe that men with larger penises are more capable of satisfying their partners sexually. However, this is not true - factors such as foreplay, tenderness, consideration, and attention to the needs of your partner, are much more important for a fulfilling sex life than the size of any body part.

A survey voting poll at Men's Sexual Health Center gives some insight as to a men's genital size. When asked the question, "What size penis length do you have when fully erect?"

The most popular sizes they checked off showed in the results as follows:
5.50 - 6.00 inches
21.3%
6.00 - 6.50 inches
19.3%

The average penis size of nearly half of the men polled is 5.50 to 6.50 inches.
