I have difficulty emptying my bladder. What might be causing this and how can I fix this?

Posted by Inquirer

I am 20 year old male and have a lot of difficulty emptying my bladder. Before going to bed everynight I use the restroom and urinate. I pee as much as I can but I can feel that there is still more urine in my bladder that my body wants to expel. I then have to stand in front of the toilet for a couple minutes and am able to sporadically get some drops or a few quick spurts of urine. I am able to do this more easily when I try to relax and align my body with deep breaths. I feel like I am putting a lot of strain on my body though when I try to force these spurts out. After trying to get out as much as I can, I have to walk away from the bathroom for a minute or two. Then I will go back to the bathroom and be able to expel a solid stream of urine for a short while. This can take several trips to the bathroom before I can feel comfortable going to bed and not feeling like I still have to pee. It can be a nuisance. This has been going on since I was 18 years old. I've heard difficulty emptying the bladder can be a symptom of an enlarged prostate, so I had mine examined by my doctor and he said that my prostate was fine. What might be causing this bladder problem and what are some possible remedies?
