great question, as I have exactly the same thing reoccuring. Im 42 male, healthy and active. "seeing a doctor" is not a great advise for an online discussion. I have seen my doctor and all they do is giving you clotrimazole cream (antifungal). This makes it go away in 3 days, and without the cream it would have taken 4 days...
problem is, why does it ALWAYS keep cuming after a while (masturbation, sex, spontaneous) ??? my suspicion is it has to do with pH condition of tissue down there, influenced by metabolism and nutrition. maybe an insuline problem.
I even had a 6 month oral antifungal treament for my infected big toe nail. Even then the rash was coming up occasinally. I think it can't be a purely fungal problem, must have bacteria involved as well?
also tried Potassium permanganate solution.. didnt work in long term.
any advise and comments from anyone ??
many thanks
roger

I am a mid 40's male. I keep getting an itchy red rash on the head of my penis that takes about a week to go away. It comes back with sex. I have tried antibacterial cream, A & D ointment but that only relieves slightly. It will really bother me by itching alot when I am active, moving around, excersizing. There is no discharge, only mild pain associated with the itching, no swelling and only on the head, shaft is normal. Does not affect urination, there is no pain during urination and it is normal in color and frequency. The same sexual partner for 20 years, both faithful, std's not a possiblilty. What could be the possible cause and possible treatment?
