Here’s one tidbit you’re not likely to read about anytime soon in the classic book “What to Expect When You’re Expecting”: men are more likely to cheat when their wives are pregnant.
That’s according to a recent study published in the Journal of Family Psychology. Overall, the study found that marital infidelity happens 2.3% of the time on an annual basis. Other studies have found that 21% of men cheat over the course of a relationship in which they are married or living together. Of course, that’s based on what the men admit to. Something tells me the actual number is a tad higher.
Pregnancy is one of the major factors that increase the risk of a husbands’ cheating. Other big factors that correlate with infidelity include neuroticism and lack of religiousness (although don’t tell that to Jimmy Swaggart).
