We all have cravings. Vices. For a while now, I've been trying to curtail a vice so as to become more disciplined. But to no avail…
Even if the number of beers I have every other night has been reduced to just a couple, I've been trying to bring it down to zero. However, if I don't have a drink, it's soon overtaken by the desire to consume something else, and these days, in the form of chocolate ice cream.
And that too, in large amounts…
Quite a quandary, isn't it?
But if you ask me, I wouldn't trade places with someone who apparently has no vices since 'sobriety' is overrated… and being orthorexic is just being boring and annoying. Moreover 'gluttony' is just not my thing…
In fact, through all this, I've come to the conclusion that there's always one vice (or obsession) that men cannot control, and if you can't eliminate it – at least, temper it to the point where it doesn't throw your Life into complete and utter chaos.

Holiday Cravings – What's the Big Deal?
Think about it – you exercise and eat well. Keep your cravings under control. Come December, and all hell breaks lose as the party invitations pour in.
'Tis the season to be jolly, right? Yeah, fat and jolly just like good ol' Santa. Mr. Gutbucket who believes that more is indeed more.
Anyways, whatever little control you have over your cravings whether it's food, alcohol or even gambling gets blown out of proportion, thanks to the prevailing festive mood.
Forget about it – it's too cold, right? Better still, everyone is too busy having a nice time – and if you can't beat them, it's time to join them.
It's understandable if you have a weakness for either alcohol or food because the number of opportunities that you have to indulge in either are numerous, to say the least. And portion control will be the last thing on your mind…

These so-called begin with a simple thought until it possesses in such a way so as to cause you to leap into action. However, there are ways to deal with these cravings whether it's during the winter months or for the rest of the year.

You will experience cravings regularly. It's perfectly natural, to say the least. However, to give in is entirely your choice.
#2: Identify craving triggers
There's always something that triggers cravings. If you identify what they are, you can stay away and nip the urge to indulge in the bud.
#3: Seek out strategies to curb cravings
While there's medication for addictions such as smoking , one can also employ strategies in order to curb cravings. For example, you can set up a five minute contract with yourself so as to not do anything as soon as you are hit with a craving for your favorite food.
#4: Consult a therapist if it's gotten out of control
Sometimes, cravings can cost you your health or a lot of money. In these cases, where it is chronic, it's advisable to consult a therapist.
