The era that I grew up in was that of the 80s rock stars sporting long hair and outfits that would make women feel a bit under dressed. How quickly things escalated since the 60s!
If you ask me, some of these guys overdid the long hair thing which soon receded into the background, thanks to boy bands who sported short hair, great bodies and pretty faces.
But some 30 years later, with the brief resurgence of popular (and talented) bands like Extreme and Mr. Big, this trend of short hair has stayed its course. There are exceptions, of course, with some aging rock stars still choosing to stick to that 80s image that they were so well-known for.
And even if they were balding, with the exception of Tom Cruise in 'Rock of Ages'… you wouldn't really know, now would you?
Hair Loss – An Introduction
Right off the bat, women don't have to worry so much as men do about hair loss causes since the latter are prone to balding than the former. Of course, women do take care of their hair much more than men, and that probably helps as well.
Yet it's not abnormal for both men and women to lose a minimum of 100 to 150 hairs everyday since they are, for all practical purposes, in the cyclic shedding stage – and probably not very different from animals.
Most of these hairs that do fall constitute almost 10% of the total hair on your head, and which is another reason why you shouldn't worry so much either.
However, when the number of hairs that fall exceed 150 hairs, that's when you should begin to worry. Most of the time, there are certain reasons why men bald, and which is what we will cover in the next section.
Hair Loss Causes – What You Need to Know
It must be said that the number of hair loss causes rival the number of fake cures that are advertised for the cure of hair loss.
Well, it sucks to be bald as a man, doesn't it? And it's also the number one fear that men have – to be bald, that is!
But there are some men who are smart enough to turn that apparent weakness into a strength: take Bruce Willis, Stone Cold Steve Austin and the list goes on and on…
White folks, as the late George Carlin mentioned, look like circumcised penises (a few exceptions exist!) when they go bald but by God, that look suits African-American men by the dozen.
But I digress.
So, without further ado, here are a few hair loss causes that you might have come across:
#3: Overdoing hair care
#4: Poor Nutrition
#5: Ringworm of the Scalp
#6: Diseases related to the thyroid gland, cancer, syphilis, lupus and Alopecia areata

So, are there any other hair loss causes that we might have missed out? Please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below.
