Five Foods that Burn Fat

Posted Feb 10 2011 8:09am

Perhaps one of the most pressing question has been how one can burn fat faster off their bodies in order to get that picture perfect in-shape figure as soon as possible. For this, people go on diets and what-not in pursuit of this illusion in the hope that it will happen as soon as possible.

The truth is that with fitness, as most experts will tell you, is that it takes months if not years to get the body that you want, and for this to happen, your attention to fitness should be a habit that has been cultivated and practiced on a daily basis.

Yet so many people focus on the short-term by doing too much (and failing miserably!) while not getting the point that everything takes time, and it's best not to try to do too much in terms of diet and exercise.

While with exercise, one can get injured which will put you out of action for a while, going on a diet that will do you more harm than good will not serve the purpose either.

And so, just like maintaining a consistent exercise routine which doesn't force you to go overboard but gently takes you through the beginner, intermediate and advanced stages, one should also imbibe healthy (read: fat burning) food in their diet as well.

How the Body Burns Fat through a Diet

With the attention that has been given to protein everywhere these days, the reason for this is because it is well and truly, the "building blocks" of our body whereby it repairs and builds muscle in our body.

What protein cannot do is supply energy to the body, as this comes from the fat stored in the body, and which comes from carbohydrates and fats itself.

Since our body already has a certain amount of fat stored, maintaining a low-fat and low-carbohydrate diet results in this fat being burnt off when one continues to remain active during the dieting phase.

This principle is the reason why low-carb diets work so well these days, but yet again, it must be followed ONLY once you get the approval of your doctor.

However, if you are not all that inclined to get on a diet, here are some foods that will burn fat in your body in the long run as you continue to consume them on a daily basis. Remember, everything takes time, and being patient is the key!

Five Foods that Burn Body Fat

a. Low Fat Dairy Products

In a study, it was found that women who consumed low fat dairy products as opposed to those who did not, lost 70 % more weight. Not only do these dairy products help you lose fat but also strengthens your bones as well.

b. Beans

Being very good source of protein, fiber and iron, one can benefit from eating a lot of beans (even though there is a controversy about gastrointestinal issues). Try the navy, lima, kidney and white beans varieties for best results!

c. Eggs

Being high in protein, these will not only help you burn off excess fat but the Vitamin D are known for breaking down fat cells. An excellent choice!

d. Citrus Fruits

Since these fruits contain loads of Vitamin C, this nutrient's ability to dilute the fat present in our body, and drain it out can be very handy as well

e. Lean Meat & Sea Food

Both these groups are high in protein and low in fat with the second group containing omega-3 fatty acids as well. What one must watch out for are the embellishments that are a part of the preparation that comes along with it.

In Closing

Honestly, there's no point going on a diet… but make it a habit to eat well and work out consistently.
