I’ve talked about Omega 3 fatty acids before. Plain and simple, they are good for you. Some benefits to omega 3 fatty acids is good skin health, heart health, joint health and actually work against belly fat.
There are a variety of fish that you can eat to get those omega 3 fatty acids. Some are Salmon, Tuna, Sardines, Halibut, Herring and Mackerel. If you’re not a big fish eater, you can take fish oil supplements.
Omega 3’s also target adipose tissue…or as most people call it, FAT. IN particular, they target the reduction of fat in the abdominal area and help prevent obesity by upregulating the expression of the genes that lead to fatty acid oxidation.
Now before you go out and grab the first bottle of fish oil you see, keep in mind it’s the Omega 3 fatty acids that you want and not a combination of Omega 3 and Omega 6 unless you have been directed by your physician to do so. You get a lot of Omega 6 from most of the foods you eat on a regular basis and too much Omega 6 has been linked to breast cancer in women.
