Based on reported 4,703 cases admitted in the different treatment and rehabilitation centers, both residential and out-patient facilities in 2006. (Source: Department of Health’s Dangerous Drugs Abuse Prevention and Treatment Program)

1. Methampethamine Hydrochloride (Shabu) – 3,256 cases


2. Cannabis (Marijuana) – 1,807 cases


3. Contact Cement (example: “Rugby”) – 536 cases


4. Benzodiazepines – 173 cases


5. Cough/Cold Preparations – 128 cases


6. Methylenedioxymethampetamine or MDMA (Ecstasy) – 71 cases


7. Cocaine – 53 cases


8. Nalbuphine Hydrochloride – 29 cases


9. Psilocybin (Magic Mushroom) – 23 cases


10. Solvents (acetone, thinner) – 16 cases

Note that poly drug use (or abuse drugs one after the other or in combination with other intoxicating substances) is common among drug abusers.
