Just because you're out of town on vacation or business doesn't mean you should let your exercise regiment go by the wayside. With a little planning and being conscious of your workout efforts, you can stay in shape while on the road.
Need some helpful guidance? Here are some tips you can use in order to keep your fitness routine intact, no matter where you are:
Pack Workout Clothes:
This is, perhaps, the simplest tip of all: packing workout clothes. By bringing along your workout gear, you'll be more likely to actually get active on your trip. So, don't forget to put those gym shoes and clothes in your bag on your next trip.
Use the Gym:
Many hotels provide a gym right on their premises, and these gyms often have some pretty impressive equipment. Take advantage of their gym on your travels. Get your workout in first thing in the morning or release your tension by working out after a long day of business meetings. Those hotel gyms are there for a reason; put them to good use.
Take a Dip:
If the hotel you're staying in doesn't have a gym, there is a good chance it has a pool. Swimming and even just playing in the pool are wonderful workouts. Put on your suit and take a dip; you'll burn those calories and feel great!
Go for a Walk:
Taking in the sights of the area you are visiting is a great way to fit some exercise into your vacation. Instead of jumping into a cab to get from one attraction to the other, walk. If there are sights of the natural world to see, go on a hike to view them.
Going on vacation at a resort? Many resorts offer a wide range of activities to enjoy, such as volleyball, tennis, basketball, snorkeling, golfing, and even dancing. Not only are such activities a great way to bond with your travel companions and mix and mingle with other travelers, but they are also an excellent way to get the heart rate pumping and stay in shape while on vacation.
If your hotel doesn't have a fitness center, a pool, or activities to participate in, get creative. Opportunities for workouts certainly lay within your hotel, even if no equipment or activities are available. Try running up and down the stairs between different levels; do squats, pushups, and jumping jacks in your room. You'll be amazed how many exercises you can fit in without any equipment or supplies.
