I have found 3 white spots inside my rectum the size of a pin head they are just where the rectum joins the anus...... these were actually seen by my wife after i complained of a burning sensation there whenever i pass harder stools........went to doctor and apparently he expected to see them too just by inserting a finger there??? i am a bit concerned about this...can anyone help?
Not to be rude, but I'm not quite sure how your wife managed to visualize the anorectal junction! For viewing purposes, we typically use an anoscope to see inside. Most likely your physician was feeling for prostate issues, hemorrhoids, and rectal abscesses. It's possible that you have an internal hemorrhoid that snagged a bit of toilet paper while it was out and now has "retracted". Internal hemorrhoids are typically not painful. External hemorrhoids can become equisitely painful if a blood clot forms inside one. I mention this because straining to pass a harder stool isn't a good thing. Over time, this can lead to diverticulosis and hemorrhoids. You should attempt to eat as much fiber as possible (25-36g/d), drink plenty of water, and exercise regularly in order to obtain/maintain soft stools that can be passed easily. Sometimes the passing of hard stools can lead to a tear in the anus which can be itchy or lead to bright red stool on the stool itself, toilet paper or in the bowl. You might want to ask your physician to perform anoscopy to evalute the white spots. Or you might want to ask for a second opinion, in which case you might consider a proctologist. Good luck!
