Benefits of meditation

Meditation is a great way to achieve a physical, spiritual and mental balance in life. Here are some reasons why you should think about taking up meditation.

1. Helps you to breathe better. And better breathing habits are known to reduce stress.

2. Meditation helps you to have a sound sleep at night.

3. It is good for patients with angina pain.

4. It helps the heart by reducing the blood pressure.

5. It helps in reducing stress levels by helping us to focus our energy and to concentrate our thoughts.

6. Finally, it is an ancient, traditional method of healing that is said to improve the overall well-being of a person.

I've heard several doctors say, if nothing else, meditate for just 5 minutes a day. Even only 5 minutes of meditation has a number of benefits, particularly with decreasing stress levels.
That's really good to know - that only 5 minutes a day can make a difference. Much like with exercise, I often put off meditation because I know I won't have the time to "really get into it." If five minutes really can make a difference, then fine. I'm in.
I can honestly tell you that I meditate every day or almost every day for ten minutes.  These ten minutes are all I need to see a huge difference in the way I operate in daily life. I am much calmer, compassionate, and happy. I am also a lot less emotionally reactive in the face of stress. Its a great feeling. Meditation is well worth it. Starting with five minutes and slowly increasing the time is the best way to go for consistency.
