Most people think that stretch marks are typically caused by fluctuations in weight or pregnancy. Think again. If you're one of the people who hasn't been afflicted by either of the above, your stretch marks are most likely the result of hormonal changes that happen during growth spurts that occur mostly during puberty. (Red marks occur when the skin stretches a lot, while white marks occur when it's stretched minimally or when the red marks fade.) Unfortunately, while stretch marks can never completely fade, laser treatments can minimize the brightness of recent marks, and exfoliation can help diminish the appearance of white marks.
