It's been a while... over 3 weeks since I've been to class. I've had issues with my back in the past, and did something to anger it. I thought I could take it easy, but when I last posted, I was in quite a bit of pain and couldn't really even stand up correctly. Then, as I was beginning to feel better, Mother Nature decided to dump an unseemly amount of snow on our little corner of paradise.
I think, in the last couple of weeks, we've had about 6 or 8 inches of snow. Now, I know that might not seem to be a lot for you guys living in the midwest or elsewhere, but bear in mind that we don't have the infrastructure established for snow. Mr. Plow doesn't cover our area. Add to this any Christmas shopping bringing more people out onto the snow/ice covered streets and you officially have a recipe for disaster.
Fortunately, we've maintained power the entire time and have been relatively lucky, all things considered. Our Christmas was wonderful, even though a few of our kids' gifts are stuck at the UPS warehouse courtesy of the snow and our impulse to buy "just a few more presents." Fortunately, Santa still made an appearance. Without Santa, we would have been screwed, because while you can't count on UPS, Santa isn't going to let a little snow stop him.
While the school remains closed for the holidays, Coach invited us to train for a few hours tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to getting back on the mats. We also have the holiday party on Sunday. So, one way or another, I'm going to get my BJJ fix. In the meantime, I got a few BJJ related items for Christmas to tide me over, the biggest of which was
Jiu Jitsu University.
So, here's hoping everyone had a wonderful Christmas or whatever holiday you celebrate this time of year, and a happy New Year!
Don't forget, if you're looking for BJJ gear, check out Razorback Jiu Jitsu. Douglas sells the full range of Atama gear, including the Mundial #7, and if you use the coupon code "STEVE" you'll save 15% off of your offer.
