Mama Marathoner’s Singing the Post Marathon Blues!

So today is Wednesday, three days post-race.

I can’t help it: I’m singing the post-marathon blues!

What is it? I remember this from last time!

I’m feeling tired but more than that-sad in a way. I know in part it is my leg issue. I tried to run this morning to no avail, so I need to take some time off. I fast walked instead. I did three miles in 36 minutes. Not too bad for barely jogging but I sure didn’t feel as if I had worked out much afterwards.

I tried the bike around our driveway this afternoon while the girls rode and I did okay. I’m going to attempt that tomorrow morning. I have to find a way to get some cardio in while the knee heals.

I’ve been doing some ITB strength exercises, stretches, etc . . . and still using ICE.

Hoping this resolves quickly, is not serious and I can do a half in the next few months before the heat is upon us and I have to take a racing break.; I’d like to do a few 5Ks too to work on my speed.

I remember the letdown from the last marathon. When you think you will be on top of the world you are actually kind of, well, stalled. There are no real plans and goals right now since I dont know what is going on with my knee. Instead I am waiting, and in the meantime not really doing any exercises. For me, that’s brutal. I love to sweat lol.

Tomorrow we are doing a field trip to the library with my oldest. Then I think I may put the youngest in the jogger and walk her around the neighborhood for a while. The weather is cool and crisp, perfect for a little walk.
