With just one week until the exhilarating event, runners are getting final payments from sponsors and making sure their body is in shape for the 26 mile marathon. For those of you taking part in the world-famous, long-distance run or something similar this year, take a look at these preparation tips to make sure you perform at your best.
You are so close to the big day that you can’t afford to loose concentration. Up until the marathon make sure to abide by your regular training routine and meal plan. Don’t go changing your diet or your routine as this could seriously jeopardise your chances of complete the run. You have come so far – it would be a shame to let it all go now.
Don’t get ahead of yourself
When the day to run finally arrives, it is important that you stick to your race plan and don’t get ahead of yourself. It is easy to get distracted by other runners ahead of you and spectators cheering you on but it is crucial that you remember that it is an endurance race. By sticking to your plan you will be able to accomplish your goal time.
Look after yourself
In order to achieve your full potential during the marathon, you need to feel comfortable and relaxed. Before your run, make sure your toe nails are neatly trimmed so they don’t cause you any pain whilst running. It is also important to keep up your stretching regime before and after the marathon to avoid injuries.
