Feeling Better, getting on…

Posted Jun 06 2010 12:00am

OK,

Sorry if the last post was a little downbeat, but you follow the blog, you take the rough with the smooth. Chemo is, as it turns out, a very up and down affair, maybe I should get the doc to prescribe me something to keep me chilled (Only messing). Anyway, yesterday and today things have been a lot better and I am feeling normal again. With that, i am feeling positive again and less pessimistic about the future, bringing everything together nicely.  What I need is some kind of global distraction to take my mind of things when the chemo is making me feel down, some kind of massive event that only happens every 4 years, something that involves hours of live coverage a day for the required 4 weeks of my next 2 cycles… Let me know if you have any ideas (and I don’t mean Britain \ America’s got talent – that only makes me feel worse).

Anyway, now I am on an upper I have been getting involved in things.  So Friday saw more progress on project wardrobe (really not my project any more as it’s all about Mick – thank’s so much – who has been doing the work).  But things are looking good now:

Nice job so far

Then today we went to see fellow almost parents Alison and Garry on the “Darkside.” We went to a fabulous cafe \ bar \ restaurant in West Kirkby (yes, we drove around gawping at the houses too) .  It was boss la.  I had the full English and it was amazing. But check out the size of the bloomin’ thing.  Forget Hodgkin’s, this breakfast nearly killed me:

EAT ME

Also, the Roberts’s were kind enough to make me a lovely sweets jar to support me when my mouth is full of horrible tastes.

mmmmmm

In a chemo update, not much to report other than that I have now lost my 15 year record of not throwing up (boo). This was, hopefully, an isolated event.  Also the GSF injection I get (to stimulate my bone marrow to make white cells) is causing pain (as expected).  It was mild first time around, but this time a bit more intense.  Lower back and sternum in a stabbing \ inside bone way.  It doesn’t last long, but its annoying. Also, I noticed a funny chemo vibe with my injuries.  So, I had crazy hand blisters for a week after rough handling some MDF and they weren’t healing.  Well, a few days after stopping chemo, whoosh, almost all healed. I also had a lump on the roof of my mouth from some kind of minor trauma (hot pizza, sharp sweet etc) that wasn’t going away, then overnight, bang… gone.  It kinda proves how chemo works, anything that tries to grow whilst it was in the system is stopped so the injuries just stay as they are. Also seems to indicate that chemo is now constantly in my system from day 1 to day 10 or 11 out of 14, no wonder this German stuff is harder to cope with.

Next, big shout out to Becca Lowman.  30 on Sat; HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Sorry I couldn’t be at your party but… well you know.

Finally, Rafa, YNWA.  Sad news, made my week even worse. Really feel that he deserved another season. However, I am informed that Rafa’s removal was to pave the way for a takeover, within 5 weeks.  New owner didn’t want to be the one making the sacking and looking like a bad guy straight away.  Apparently the new, Middle Eastern, investor is filthy stinking rich and this deal will enable us to compete with Man City and Chelsea in terms of ££££’s. The board is up for it… it’s all down to Gillet and Hicks to say “YES.” – You heard it here first.

Until next time…
