The Veggie Project: Lyme Disease and Enough Nutrients, A Quickie

Posted Oct 23 2013 9:28pm
Today, I attended a somewhat bothersome meeting with my corresponding naturopath in which we discussed the nature of nutritional deficiency within the vegetarian world/Lyme Disease.

Aside from the basic needs, and difficulties acquiring nutrients these nutrients
Iron- a person needs 18 mg per day- a Lyme patient is no different.
Protein- 64 g a day are required for those sedentary and of a certain weight(easier than you would think- more on that later).
Vitamin D- 2,000-4,000 iu a day.
B12- 2.4 mcg per day.
And Omega 3's- I will include this later.

The difficulty for Lyme patients maintaining proper nutrition on a vegetarian or vegan diet, though we all differ (and thus do our supplemental needs) is absorption and retaining the proper amount of Omega-3s. Personally, I consume those of the Mamma Chia brand each day and this removes my need for anything more. However, I am now researching an algae supplement that includes the fatty acids and will hopefully find this soon.
