On the no-grain diet, one would think brownies would not be an option, however, brownies can be made using approved dietary ingredients. My good friend Maria baked some and brought them over last night. They are yeast, grain and dairy free! Can you believe it? And they taste great, so much so that I may just go into a chocolate coma. Thanks, Maria! Maybe next time you see me I will have gain a couple of pounds and we can celebrate! LOL
Here is the recipe if you would like to try a healthier recipe:
2 cups of almond butter
1 cup of honey (a monosaccharide sugar)
1/2 cup of organic applesauce
1/2 cup cocoa powder
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. baking soda
dash of nutmet
Mix all ingredients togethe to form a creamy batter. Spread in a well-oiled (olive oil) 9x13 baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Allow to reach room temperature before slicing. Store int eh refrigerator for optimal freshness.
Note: I say "healthier recipe" because it has honey in it rather than our polysacchride sugars..Honey is a monosachride which are the most basic form of sugar that doesn't need to be broken down and is digested easily by the body allowing more energy for your body to use in fighting off foreign invaders in your body. I will explain a little more in my next blog.
