Partners In Lyme: Restoration and Reflection

Posted Apr 06 2011 2:36pm 1 Comment
Recently we moved my recliner right next to Joel's chair and footstool.  We spend a lot of time side by side reading, eating our meals, watching TV or just concentrating on staying positive while we both move forward in now the third week of die off for Joel and die off and continual stomach issues for me.  A challenging time.

Joel started the herb Cryptolepsis a few weeks ago to work on eliminating Bartonella and Babesia.  We call it  "Crypto-Crappo".  It is powerful stuff and Joel has been having major die off symptoms.  In the long run we know this is good news as his body is working hard to rid itself of these two brutal bugs.  In the middle of this process it does not feel so good.  He is able to still work some and preach Wed. and Sunday, but the rest of the time he has been functioning at a low level.  We see progress right now again~ the sunshine is great to see.
Symptoms:  chills, joint pain, sore soles, brain fog, constant exhaustion, unrestored sleep, balance issues, hoarseness, and what we call phantom tooth pain. ( a trip to the dentist found nothing in a crowned tooth that hurts).

I started the herb Cumunda 14 days ago for Bartonella and yesterday started a new herb, Banderol.  In 12 days I will switch to Houttyunia ~ an powerful Chinese herb for Lyme and Bartonella.  This is part of the Cowden protocol. Since I have a big flare of Bartonella in my stomach and since Bart also causes acid reflux, between this die off and the treatment for H-Pylori, and sores in my stomach and on esophagus ~ which are healing~ ...I am still struggling with some acid reflux.  Especially after going off the Prilosec and on to Zantac.  Part of the treatment.  We are seeing alot of progress here too and am so thankful for my LLMD's help with this stomach bacteria.
Symptoms:  Painful soles, burning neuropathy(nerve pan) all over, joint and bone pain, anxiety, stomach burning, acid reflux, weakness, heavy gravity feeling with OI symptoms, and intestine issues.

Are we having fun yet?

In all seriousness, we are holding our own and believing this too will pass as it has before.  Our bodies are working hard to restore themselves to a healthier state.  We see progress and light at the end of this particular tunnel.  We are blessed to hold on to each other and be carried by God.

FYI:  Alyson over at Adventures In Lymeland  has written a wonderful post on finding the gifts given to us in the middle of chronic illnesses such as Lyme and ME/CFS.  Donna over at The Brighter Side  gives us much needed insights and info on finding the brighter side of Lyme.  She links up in her latest post with a woman who has a meditation Cd just for those healing from Lyme.  You can listen to samples of all her Cds at the site posted by Donna.  I ordered one and know it will become part of my treatment plan.  My LLMD is actually quoted at her site and several of her patients were used to help create this Cd.

Wishing all of you a day filled with delight!

Are you following any special diet for this treatment?  I am also on those herbs and trying to only eat meat and veges so I do not feed bugs but it is causing extreme anxiety.
