On To The Next Chapter

Posted Mar 18 2013 10:15pm

finish-line Last week I had my final IV antibiotic treatment!!  I am still on the oral antibiotics & that will continue for at least several years.  Last April, I was cynical about any doctor when I first met my Lyme Literate Medical Doctor (LLMD).  I was in a wheelchair, barely able to follow a conversation, & in constant pain.  When I was given the diagnosis of Advanced Neurological Lyme  Disease with 5 co-infections, we cried because I finally had a diagnosis even though we had no idea about the intensity of the upcoming treatment.  My LLMD has been working with Lyme Disease for over 20 years & he said I was one of the worst cases he had seen.  That was daunting but it gave me another motive to get better.

Turtle1 Turtle2 After finishing 8 cycles of treatment, this turtle has won the first marathon against  Lyme Disease.  Not everything has been ‘fixed’ during these 8 cycles & the lyme will always be in my body so I have to be vigilant.  Now I start the next marathon again Lyme Disease.

pain is temporary
