What could be the cause of severe joint and body pain after spending time outside in the heat.

Posted by IMME

After spending time outdoors in the hot weather, I begin to first experience a severe drop in energy, usually forcing me to stop whatever I am doing and go inside. By the day I will feel "sick" and shortly after I will begin to have severe pain in all my joints, the pain is worse in my upper extremities. After the initial day or two, the pain will begin to diminish and within a week I will be back to normal.

This has been happening for several years now. I live in Florida and dread the months of April through September. My family calls me a recluse because they don't understand what is happening to me.

I am currently being evaluated for a connective tissue disease. But can find nothing connecting these attacks to any of the connective tissue diseases.

Has anyone else had these types of attacks? And/or does anyone have any idea what may be causing them?

Hello.  I too suffer from aching limbs and severe energy level drop for about 6 months now which has made me moderatly depressed.  All blood tests, MRIs and joint x rays show nothing.  But I did have a H. pylori infection of the stomach two years ago that went undiagnosed for eight months leaving me mentally shot to pieces.  That I think has triggered an autoimmune Psychosomatic illness which can manifest when a person becomes depressed which you undoubtedly are now and that leads to energy levels dropping.  I would say get checked for Rheumatoid arthritus and consider IBS also.  Sometimes food allergies, milk, wheat, gluten can destroy our sense of well being.  Basically do not accept any doctors diagnosis until all tests and possibilities have been explored and unfortunately you must keep getting in the doctors face constructively and learn as much as you can for yourself also from medical internet sites.  But please, don`t believe what you read and then diagnose yourself.  Your symptoms, like my own are not specific to any one disease so its impossible to say you have one single thing wrong because you probably match a whole range of symptoms and the doctor will be as confused as you.  Also, if you have a doctor that is trying to dismiss you without listening, change him or her.  You know your body and mind.  When you are not right then you know and feel it and let no doctor tell you otherwise.  I have elected for talk therapy. Think carefully before you accept anti depressant tablets because they are highly addictive and you may always be on them once you start because coming off them can be a heavy fall from a false happy feeling.

Good luck!  Shaun.
