Trembling

Posted Feb 13 2009 4:56pm

I am not sure why but this past few days I feel that my whole body trembles. Most of the time I experienced it when I am on the rush or I am doing a lot of things and trying to finish them all at once. Today I experienced it again since I am swamped with work. When I tried to relax, the trembling was more evident. I decided to take a nap while my little girl sleeps too. So when I woke up everything went back to normal. I was thinking it was a side effect of my high dose prednisone. And I was right.

Because when I search through the internet I read this very interesting article that made me laugh also. The article was titled ‘Prednisone Crazy Streak - define’ which was written by Krissi in her blog at mykidney.com. Let me quote some lines she wrote

The first effect you begin to notice are your hands - they’re trembling - writing legibly becomes unreliable, spotty at best. Awhile later, maybe by dose four, you also notice that your brain is trembling as badly as your hands, but at least it has turned into the super-fast computing unit you’ve always thought would be cool. And it is cool for about a day - and then you realize the human brain can only go as fast as the human body can.

A few days after starting Prednisone the constant jittery feeling kicks in, and boy does it kick in like an addict’s need for a fix. By now your body will feel like it wants to do 192837986592147 things at once, and your mind then wants to do at least three times as many things (at the same time).

She clearly illustrates what I am feeling right now. So that means I am not alone in what I am experiencing. I am keeping my fingers crossed that by next week my pred dose would be reduced since I will be visiting my rheuma by Thursday.
