Actually step two is the rest of the path....its taking it one day at a time and doing whats right each moment in order to make a difference. Just like reading labels on the foods we eat, I am now reading the labels on everything I buy. Shoes, clothes, blankets, dishes, towels, socks, gloves, hats....the list is endless. Looking at the label is surprising when you think its one thing and its totally something else! Something I don't want!
I tried to start with shoes today, but I gave up.....it saddened me so. Next to blankets. Found something eco friendly (recycled plastic) and on clearance (woohoo!). Then I was off to sweaters.....ugh! Wool this and wool that or itchy acrylic something. I gave up again. I finally got lucky in purses.
However, I cannot tell you how many I went through before I found something I thought was useful for me. Seems when you buy eco friendly they think you want a big bag! They were all HUGE! Finally I asked to find something that would just appease me for awhile. Then I could take my time and find something that I really liked. That's all it took......within minutes I found something workable, cute, and inexpensive (less than $4)
It was the first thing that didn't say polyester (100% cotton) and was smaller than a bread box (and I'm not kidding...). I added the sunburst ornament to make it my own....always have to do that!
Finding eco in a sea of un-eco is mind boggling, I wonder what the world has in store for me tomorrow?
