Lupus, Benlysta, and a helpful FedEx delivery

Benlysta co-pay assistance program

Yesterday afternoon, I received an unexpected knock at the door as I was getting ready for work.  It was the Fed Ex delivery driver, with an express mail envelope.  The return address showed “The Macaluso Group” at a New Jersey address, and it was addressed to me.  I had no clue who or what it was about.

As I ripped the zip strip to open the package, I looked inside and there was a single page letter, with a MasterCard debit card attached.  The letter explained that I had qualified for the Benlysta co-pay assistance program.  The letter explained that the program has no expiration, and that the MasterCard could be used to pay for up to $7,000 in Benlysta co-pay costs.

I did the math, and figured out that with infusions scheduled monthly, the program will cover approximately 4 and 1/2 years of infusion co-pays.  Since I have not yet received an invoice from the hospital’s billing office for the first four infusions, the timing was wonderful.  The news could not have arrived at a better time.  What a blessing and pleasant surprise!

If you are in need of help to make your Benlysta co-payments, check out the Benlysta website for more information.  I thought that because I was working, I would probably not qualify, but applied anyway.  Now, I am very glad I did!
