Diabetic Exchange Diet Plan

Posted Oct 28 2009 11:00pm

I have known someone who has diabetes. I have worked with her for eight years. I have seen her struggle and her mood swings. And I know it’s not easy. She is a single lady nearing 60 years of age and somehow diabetes have huge impact on how she has perceived life in general. Because of this disease, she opted not to marry. Her thinking is that she does not want to put the burden in her would be husband. She seems to enjoy what life has to offer but along the way I would listen to her complains about the limitations of having the disease. Especially when it comes to eating. She loves to eat chocolates, fatty foods and even softdrinks. So it’s hard for her to control her intake. Sometimes because of her frustration she would bully me and say that I should not be eating those also because of my lupus. haha.

To help her out, I started to do some little research on food that she can eat without putting her sugar level into trouble. I wish right now I can share with her the diabetic exchange plan I found at diabeticdietsnews.com. The plan talks about the six categories/food group that a diabetic has to eat in a day. Of course, in small portion. This information is a big help to her. As well as the other articles posted in the site. I would be emailing her and asked her to read about it.
