Dolores Park is a unique microcosm of San Francisco. It's on the border of the Mission and Castro neighborhoods, and reflects the ethnic and cultural diversity of this area. On any given day you can find joggers, tai chi-ers, nature lovers, picnic-ers sun bathers, tennis players, families playing in the children's park, dogs running up and down the hills, tourists gawking at the amazing downtown view (or the characters in the park). Other than it's beauty, one great aspect of this park is that it is the people's park of the city. Many social/political events begin or end at this cental location. It's quite common between the early spring to late fall months to run into some protest rally or event, from anti-war demonstrations to the performances such as the progressive
San Francisco Mime Troupe. It also holds many cultural events, including the magical (tho chilly)
outdoor movie nights during spring to early fall months. For a little more history, check out wikipedia's
write up. No matter where you're at, Dolores Park is a great place to get active, find healthy eats, and relax and unwind.

going to fall apart or that my lungs were on fire. My neck, ears, feet
and shins all felt fine (those were the body parts that just couldn't
take running in the past). In fact, at the end of my run, I felt like it
was...

Behind our house is a logging road/trail perfect for my new life of running. I leave the house and walk, at a brisk pace, up the hill to the
start of the path. This is about a seven minute walk and gets my heart
going and my body warmed up. The trail goes through the woods, which remind me of...
