I live in Culver City, and I feel blessed to be near the Ballona Creek bike path. Sure, it runs along a concrete "river" that sometimes fills up with garbage and storm drain trash. But it's a straight shot down to Playa del Rey, and you won't have to deal with cars or traffic whatsoever. Pedestrians rarely use the path so you'll have plenty of room to ride. The path dips under the major roads that cross it, so you'll have a few minor hills to climb. Once you hit the beach, you can turn north or south and ride for miles along the ocean. Biking along the Ballona Creek bike path is one of my favorite parts of living in Culver City.

Nice hair vs. helmets by vicki l. Patient Expert Jun 21 07 11:18pm I admit for the longest time, I never wore a bike helmet. The only reason -- vanity. I just didn't want to deal with helmet hair. But one day, I was planning a ride with my new beau, who rides centuries. "Where's your helmet?" he asked, "Don't have one." "I'm not riding with you if you don’t have...

My daughter, who is six, went with her godmother and watched her godmother's niece, who is an Olympic gold medalist, teach half a dozen young girls horse vaulting. It looked like quite a workout. Strength and precision is what come to mind wh...
